The Purpose of the Amos Herr House  Foundation is to maintain
 and preserve the history and traditions of the greater Hempfield
 area so that future generations might benefit and find enjoyment
 in this knowledge.

You can volunteer for any of these positions:

 

1. Docent: male or female to give guided interpretive tours

                        on weekends and special event days

                        period clothing will be provided by AHHF

                        required time to commit: 6 hours per month

 

2. Receptionists: male or female to greet and take money from visitors

                        on weekends and special event days

                        period clothing will be provided by AHHF

                        required time to commit: 6 hours per month

 

3. Storekeeper: male or female to cashier and help to manage merchandise in Emma's Keeping Room

                        on weekends and special event days

                        period clothing will be provided by AHHF

                        required time to commit: 6 hours per month

 

4. Junior Docents: teen male or female to assist Sr. docents with guided tours    

                        on weekend and special event days

                        period clothing will be provided by AHHF

                        required time to commit: 3 hours per month

 

5. Gardener: male or female to help maintain the gardens at AHHF ‑ tools supplied

                        required time to commit: 10 hours per year

 

6. Housekeeping: person to assist in cleaning the house, supplies provided

                        in the spring, mid summer, before special events 

                        required time to commit: 8 hours per year

 

7. Mailing: person to stuff envelopes, affix labels and stamps(provided) and deliver to post office

                        in home

                        required time to commit: 10 hours per year

 

8. Telephoning: person to make calls to other volunteers from lists provided

                        required time to commit: 10 hours per year

 

9. Baking: person who likes to bake and donate baked goods to AHHF for special events

                        required time to commit: 2 or 3 times per year

 

10. Crafter person who likes to make crafts (ideas and supplies provided) for sale in Emma's Keeping Room all other crafts accepted with approval of shopkeeper

                        required tine to commit: unknown

 

11. Special Events: person to assist chairperson in coordinating an event

                        required time to commit: 20 hours per year

 

12. Barn & House restoration: person with knowledge about restoration and decorating in the period of the house (turn of the last century) barn (around 1830)

 

13. Archivist: person with knowledge of managing archivcs(historic paper files) & assisting researchers requires computer, simple data base skills at AHHF

                        required time to commit: 2 hours per month

 

14. Maintenance: male or female with expertise in home repairs also ability to move heavy items required

                        time to commit: if available when called
