2012 Lecture Series

The Foundation annually sponsors three lectures that are open to the public at no cost. Lectures are on a variety of local history topics. They are held at the East Hempfield Municipal Building, 1756 Nissley Rd. in Landisville at 7:00 p.m. There is ample seating and the room is handicapped accessible. Reservations are not necessary.

All lectures are held on the third Thursday of the month at the East Hempfield Township Building at 7:00 p.m.

Thursday, April 19th, 2012 Fran Strouse will give a history of the PRR in Lancaster County, Mike Myers will be telling about the life of a hobo and Craig Coble will be talking about PRR engines and rolling stock.

Thursday, May 17th, 2012 Jim Rudy will speak about tobacco from the beginning of steaming tobacco beds through the stripping. He will have items on display that were used in tobacco farming.

Thursday, July 19th, 2012 Ed Marks will lecture on "Ice Cream - The Great American Treat". I can give you more info at a later date.
